About Catherine
Oi!
I’m Catherine! I was born and was raised in São Paulo, Brazil.
I graduated from the State University of Campinas with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and an education degree in science. I also have a master’s degree in biochemistry.
Besides my college education, I’m a professional ballerina. I have been dancing since I was a child, in other words over 22 years. Also, I'm a traveler and language lover! I love getting to know new places, new cultures and learning about how people communicate themselves.
I became a teacher over 10 years ago, I believe there is no magic when you want to learn something new, such as a new language. I believe in practice and discipline!
If we want to learn a new language, it is appropriate having the discipline to keep studying, but the most important thing is TO PRACTICE the language. Even better if you could do it with a native speaker, just because you can face the real pronunciation, the rhythm, vocabulary and even some slang.
My goal is developing communication and connection to the person you speak to. The important thing is to be able to express yourself and be understood in real-life situations.
I lived in the United States for two years to keep studying and improve my English skills. Since I’m still learning English, I've been through a lot of difficulties and I understand how hard learning a new language can be. So, I’ll be really happy to help you to get through it and practice Portuguese with you.
