About Laura
Hola ¿Cómo estás? I am Laura Hernández and, I am an English-Spanish teacher from Mexico City. I have more than 20 years of experience. Languages are my passion. I ran my own school in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo for 10 years and I really enjoyed teaching Spanish to tourists and English to people from Isla.
I have a degree in English Translation-Localization and Interpreting. I have different English Certifications such as Teacher´s Diploma, TKT, CENNI, and COTE. For Spanish I have DIPELE (Diplomado para profesores de español como segunda lengua) and I am currently studying my Master´s Degree in Spanish Linguistics both from UNAM.
My approach to teaching aims to develop communication and language skills by performing tasks. That includes a self-directed learning or a DEDUCTIVE APPROACH. To engage students with the subject matter, I provide students with basic facts, relate new knowledge to what students already know, build in interaction and I try to encourage them to be passionate and enthusiastic.
I try to be a reflective teacher and strive for excellence in teaching. I consider each aspect of my teaching approach to ensure that I am doing my best to facilitate my student´s learning.
I specialize in Oral Production so my classes will benefit Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Students.
